What is C-One’s Consultant Directory and Referral Service?

  • C-One maintains a listing of local and regional consultants and/or consulting or professional services firms with nonprofit management expertise available to work with nonprofit organizations primarily in Miami-Dade County.
  • C-One utilizes the directory in 2 ways:
    (1) to refer nonprofits directly to consultants; and
    (2) to identify consultants for C-One's own consultant projects and special initiatives supported through grants and/or fee-based contracts with funders.
  • Consultants benefit by receiving referrals based upon their areas of expertise.  They are also considered for special C-One projects.

How is the regular C-One Consultant Directory and referral service different from the pool of consultants for the Miami NICE initiative?

  • Outside of the C-One's regular Consultant Directory, C-One is also managing the special "Request for Qualifications (RFQ)" process for the Miami NICE initiative. The goal is to establish a pool of consultants eligible to be considered for consultant assignments that are part of this special initiative.
  • Two separate enrollment processed apply.  Registering for the regular C-One Consultant Directory does not qualify a consultant for the Miami NICE pool, and vice-a-versa.
  • Responding to the Miami NICE RFQ is more rigorous than registering for the regular C-One Consultant Directory.  Unlike the rolling C-One registration process, specific due dates apply for the Miami NICE RFQ process.
  • Visit www.miaminice.org for information.

Does C-One facilitate contracts between consultants and clients?

  • In most cases, it is up to the nonprofit and the consultant to establish their own working relationship. C-One guides nonprofits to check references provided by each consultant prior to establishing a deliverables-based contract.
  • For customized initiatives—generally longer-term or multi-tiered, capacity-building projects—C-One offers a full range of consultant management services on a fee-for-service basis.  Services include recruitment, screening, training, direct contracting, deployment, and supervision.

Is there a charge for using this service?

  • Nonprofits access the Consultant Directory information free.  At present, there is no charge to join the C-One Consultant Directory. However, consultants that are part of the Directory are encouraged to show their support by becoming a C-One member.
  • Notice: Beginning on October 1, 2009, registration for the Consultants Directory will require C-One membership, at the Individual ($100) level. Register Now!
  • For customized initiatives, fees apply.

Who pays for this program?

  • C-One has paid for the development and initial implementation of this service with support from local and national funders.
